Easter and Dad's Birthday

Saturday, like every year, we dyed the Easter eggs. This year Roberto wanted to participate too, it was a whole new experience for him. In Italy Easter is considered a big religious feast, so he liked to find out this other profane part of Easter a lot.
He painted our cat Miele on one egg, my mother dyed hers with silver shades, my father made a lot of geometric shapes and I made a big Chesire cat.

Sunday we searched the eggs which the hare (my mother) had hidden in the garden. I always have so much fun searching the eggs. Then, we noticed one egg was missing, Roberto and I searched everywhere but it was nowhere to be found.

Then I made Banana split cupcakes for my father's birthday and a Scharzwalder Kirsch Torte.
I had a lot of work with that cake, but I was pretty happy with the result.
We had a lot of guests, fortunately, otherwise the cupcakes would never have finished. (mmh.. actually they did not finish, but not many were left).

(I know.. on the cake it says "48" and on the candles "46" but you can guess how old my father is if you want)

Maybe I'll post the recipe of the Schwarzwalder Kirsch Torte later.. it' not that complicated (if you know where to buy cherry and kirsch. I only found cherries in liqueur and they had a too strong taste, they had a too high alcoholic strenght ^^).

Hope you enjoyed your Easter days,

Inspire me, photography.

Hi!!
I spend a lot of time watching photos. On sites like Weheartit, flickr, etc. I love photography so much. I always keep my camera with me and I love taking pictures. Even though I am not a pro and I am not that good at taking them, I like it. I love memories, I love colors, I love the atmosphere certain photos can transmit.

So I thought about posting some inspiring picture every now and then. Just to share what I like.
And I also thought I should post no more than 5 of them everytime I do it, otherwise I would end up filling my blog with endless posts with an enormous amount of pics.

Happy Easter!! (today's recipe: Meringues)

Hey, hallo!!
Happy Easter to you all!!
I think I've eaten too much candy/chocolate/eggs, etc

For Easter I thought it would be nice to make some candies for a couple of friends and my parent's friends.
Seeing that I associate Easter with pastel colors I thought of making Meringues.
So I just looked for the ingredients and made lots and lots of them.

Meringues

Ingredients:

Makes really a lot of meringues, if you want to make just a few, you can divide.

100 grams egg whites
100 grams sugar
100 grams powdered sugar, sifted

Beat the eggwhites in a bowl until stiff.
While whisking, add the granulated sugar slowly.
Stop the mixer and add the powdered sugar with a wooden spoon, slowly and gently.
If you want to give it a pastel color, or other colors, add the food colouring (as you can see I made 5 different colors).

Put the meringues in a pastry bag and pipe little meringues on baking parchment.
Place it in the oven (preheated at approximately 80°C) for about 10 minutes or until they are dry and you can easily pick them out of the oven from the parchment.
Let them dry for another 15 minutes (because they could still be wet in the inside).
Et voilà, very easly and very quickly done. I think it's a good idea for a little gift.

I hope you are enjoying thi Easter, I definitely did it!

Raisins Muffins

Yesterday evening I arrived in the town where my boyfriend lives, after 5 long hours in the train. We decided to cook together, to see if we would quarrel =). Fortunately it doesn't happen often so everything went well, Ahah.
We made Fusilli with cream, zucchini, carrots and shrimps.

Then it was time to go to bed because he wakes up at 6' to go to work. But I wanted to make some Muffins for his breakfast. I had been thinking so much of making muffins I don't know why but I really wanted to bake.
He went to sleep and I, with only one mini mini light (he has a one-room flat), went on baking. Finally I went to bed al 00.30 and I woke up at 6 to make some coffee.
Well that's not that important. The important thing is..
Do you wanna know how to make some delicious Raisins Muffins? Here's the recipe for you.

It's so extremely simple.

Raisins Muffins.

Ingredients.

200 ml Milk
200 g Flour
1 tbs Baking soda
2 Eggs
50 g Sugar
200 g Raisins
Directions.

Preheat the oven at 180 °C.
Mix Flour and Baking Soda in a large bowl.
Add Milk, Eggs, Sugar and at last also the Raisins.
Mix until the batter is smooth.
Devide among 12/15 muffin cups, filling about 2/3 full.
Bake. 15/20 minutes should be enough, you can check by inserting a toothpick in the center: if it comes out clean you can turn off the oven.
Let the muffins cool, preferably on a rack, before serving.

I ate them with a littlebit of honey, I liked them ^^, hope you'll like them too

Time, time, time..

Hi there!
my god, it's so long ago that I've written the last time..
I have done so many things, and I have so much to do..
My boyfriend has moved, and now lives on his own. I'm so proud of all the things he does! And I'm happy everytime I see his enthusiasm. He now lives in this little town:

Between one class and the other I like to spend some time with my friends. We often go and eat something wherever we want. We went to the japanese restaurant and I actually liked it a lot!

Then, I made pear and cinnamon jam.. mmh! I am craving it right now..

Roberto prepared a lot of yummy breakfasts for me, with toasts, fruit, yogurt, etc.. ^^

My family, some friends and I went to see "Le cirque du Soleil", fantastic, wonderful, unique..
Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take photographs. But I can assure you that it has been fantastic, they are the most talented artists I've ever seen. Really.

My roomate and I made "parfaits" for our diet. They are made of looots of fruit, yogurt and granola.. and it's simply perfect.

And.. this weekend Roberto came here in Turin, and it has been the funniest weekend we spent here together. We had a coffee in the bar in via Po, we went to the park, we went to the Egyptian museum and had a lot of fun. Yesterday evening we went to the Chinese restaurant and to the English pub, we laughed a lot, but most of all walked a lot!

Today I brought Roberto to the station. I was sad because I miss him a lot, he's the person who always supports me, and I just need him to be with me. =) After the train left, I decided to take a looong walk to go back home. It was such a wonderful day! I was simply happy walking through the park and enjoying the sun.

I came back and studied a bit.
Ok, now, after a blackout of 2 hours, I finished writing this post and now I'm planning to drink a green tea and go to bed.

Goodnight!!

Long ago..

The last time I wrote was really really a long time ago.
But. I have an excuse. I have looots of excuses!
First of all I went to Berlin with my Uni friends. I had a wonderful time, I laughed a lot, we saw everuthing which was possible to see with -10°C.

While I was there, my nephew was born!!!
His name is Mattia, he's so cute! I only saw him twice, but I love him =)

Isn't he lovely?

The second semester has just begun. I have between 8 and 10 hours per day. Incredible, I am so tired when I come home. And I have to change room (from one part to the other of the city) a lot of time, but that gives me the chance to walk a lot =).
Here in Turin is a wonderful park, last year my friends and I used to go eat there in the break. Today was the perfect day to do this again. But.. No time, no break, no eating together.

After my classes I go to the gym every single day (from monday to thursday) and on friday I go back to Liguria, where my bf and my parents live.

My boyfriend, Roberto, has just found a house. He is so lovely, he is happy and I am proud of him. His house has a lot of orange details and is Africa-themed. I like it a lot. I am so looking forward to go and stay with him.

This saturday, however, I will only stay one evening there (4hours in the train to go there) and then we will come back to Turin.. because..
Cirque du Soleil is coming!! Yeeey!!

Bread and rainbows

I know I haven't been writing for a while. I had lots of exams, and now I have a littlebit of time. Actually, I'm waiting for my nephew to be born, I am so excited and think a lot about it because tuesday I will go to Berlin, and if he'll be born then I won't see him for one entire week =(. But alas, I cannot oblige him, obviously =).

Today my mother called my father to buy some bread (we live in a small town and the nearest place where you can buy bread is like 10km away from here). He was already near home so I decided to make it. I am so happy when I have the chance to bake =)

Meanwhile it was, and it still is, raining and raining. It stopped for about 10 minutes, and guess what we saw? A spectacular rainbow, from the beginning to the end, right in front of our house. I took some photos. It was fantastic!

(oh yes, I intensified the colours a bit too much, but I hate when pictures don't let you feel as if you were in that place when they have been taken, because it was so beautiful..)

Oh, and yesterday I made cookies for Roberto. We are together from August, 5 2007 : that is.. 2 and a half years! Whoa! So I decided to make some cookie lollies (idea from here) and some miniminicookies. I had no icing sugar so I decorated it with chocolate..mmh!!

(they still were drying)

If you want to know recipe or something, just ask =)
